With her engagement recently ended, Sonya moves in to uncover why the brothers were separated at birth and why this was kept secret until a genealogy website revealed the truth. At the clifftop manor, lawyer Trey informs Sonya that the house is haunted. She experiences unexplained phenomena: objects move, music plays without source. She discovers a painting by her father hanging in her uncle's office and a portrait of a woman named Astrid, whom Trey calls "the first lost bride." Sonya realizes she has inherited not just a house, but a centuries-old curse and a mystery that must be solved to break it.
