Judy + Liza + Robert + Freddie + David + Sue + Me: A Memoir

Stevie Phillips was a young woman who entered Manhattan's corporate world during the Mad Men era. After working as a secretary, she joined Freddie Fields and David Begelman at Music Corporation of America (MCA) under agent Lew Wasserman. When MCA dissolved, Fields and Begelman founded Creative Management Associates (CMA), and Phillips went with them. Fields brought Judy Garland on board, and Phillips became closely involved in managing Garland's final years, handling logistics to get her to performances in various towns. Phillips also represented Garland's daughter Liza Minnelli, as well as Robert Redford, Paul Newman, Henry Fonda, George Roy Hill, Bob Fosse, Cat Stevens, and David Bowie. She produced films and Broadway shows and worked alongside agent Sue Mengers. In this memoir, Phillips reflects on her time with Garland, describing both the difficult aspects and what she learned from the actress and singer. She also recounts her career representing major figures in entertainment.
