King's Dragon (Crown of Stars Book 1)

King's Dragon is the first book in the Crown of Stars epic fantasy series, set in an alternate Europe. The story begins amid civil war in the kingdom of Wendar. Though King Henry holds the crown, his sister Sabella contests his reign, and many lords are drawn to her cause. Simultaneously, Wendar faces deadly raids from the north by an inhuman race called the Eika. Strange portents appear: ancient ruins come to life under the full moon, inhabited by the long-vanished Lost Ones, and dark spirits walk the land in daylight. Two young people are drawn into this conflict. Liath, a woman who has spent her life fleeing unknown enemies, possesses the power to alter history if she can master her fear and claim what is hers. Alain, a young man granted a vision by the Lady of Battles, must discover his true identity—whether he is a bastard, half-breed, or heir to an ancient lineage—before he can accept his destined role.
