About this book

In the American West, Latigo Smith faces significant challenges after overseeing the construction of a narrow-gauge railroad. He settles in Silverton, Colorado, where he partners with a friend to open a saloon and supports Joanna in establishing a bakery. His dream of owning a ranch encounters obstacles when he encounters a desperate man being forced off his land by outlaw Penfield. Latigo purchases the land and helps the man's family escape, drawing Penfield's attention. Meanwhile, miners are being systematically robbed of their gold. Latigo leads an operation to reclaim the stolen ore. As Penfield's ambitions expand and he seeks to control Silverton, the townspeople turn to Latigo for protection. In this lawless town, Latigo must use his courage and wit to defend his new home and stop Penfield's reign of terror.
