About this book

It is autumn 1981 in Blackeberg, a suburb of Sweden, when a teenager is found dead, drained of blood. The murder is rumored to be a ritual killing. Twelve-year-old Oskar, who is bullied at school, finds himself hoping the killing represents revenge on his behalf. However, Oskar's attention is drawn to a new girl who has moved in next door. She has never encountered a Rubik's Cube before but can solve it immediately. There is something unusual about her—she only appears at night. The novel explores the relationship between these two characters against the backdrop of the mysterious murder.
