About this book

The Screwtape Letters presents a series of letters between Screwtape, a highly placed assistant to "Our Father Below," and his nephew Wormwood, a novice demon. Wormwood is tasked with securing the damnation of an ordinary young man. Through this correspondence, the novel offers a satirical portrayal of human life and weaknesses from the perspective of the infernal realm. The work combines comedy with serious examination of temptation and resistance to it. Lewis uses irony and wit to explore these themes through the worldly-wise devil's guidance to his inexperienced relative.
