Lost Souls

At a club in Missing Mile, N.C., young people gather in black clothing seeking acceptance. Among them are Ghost, who perceives things others cannot; Ann, who desires love; and Jason, whose real name is Nothing, who has recently learned an ancient truth about his father and himself. Three travelers—Molochai, Twig, and Zillah, with green eyes—arrive in town pursuing their own journey. They seek blood and young flesh, which they find in Nothing and Ann. This encounter sets off a road trip south to New Orleans. Ghost follows, using his powers to pursue his own destiny: to save Ann from her new companions and to save Nothing from himself. The novel explores vampires as beings who experience longing, love, and thirst for the forbidden. It blends elements of brutality and sentiment, hope and despair.
