Dahlia Woodson, recently divorced and facing bankruptcy, enters the reality cooking competition Chef's Special hoping to reinvent herself. Her first memorable moment is an embarrassing fall that sends fish tacos flying. Her focus on winning shifts when she meets London Parker, a fellow contestant. London, the show's first openly nonbinary contestant, is there to prove wrong the trolls and critics, including a fellow contestant and their own father. They didn't plan to fall in love. As Dahlia and London grow closer, the pressures of divorce guilt, anxiety about the future, and experiences with transphobia fade away, replaced by on-set shenanigans, wedding crashing, and spontaneous moments together. As the competition finale approaches, their relationship intensifies both in and outside the kitchen. They must determine whether they have the right ingredients for a lasting future together.
