Manifestation Wolverine: The Collected Poetry of Ray Young Bear

This collection brings together Ray Young Bear's poetry across four volumes: Winter of the Salamander (1979), The Invisible Musician (1990), The Rock Island Hiking Club (2001), and new work titled Manifestation Wolverine. Young Bear's poems draw on Meskwaki tradition and modern popular culture, exploring the boundaries between past and present, real and surreal, comedy and tragedy. The Bloomsbury Review has called Young Bear "the nation's foremost contemporary Native American poet," while Sherman Alexie describes him as "the best poet in Indian Country." The new poems in Manifestation Wolverine are inspired by animistic beliefs, a Lazy-Boy recliner, and word songs Young Bear sang to his children.
