About this book

Rookie reporter Deborah Jones at the Miami Herald pursues a story about William Craig, a man on Death Row convicted of murdering Senator Jack O'Neill's son. Craig killed the young man after he was acquitted of raping Craig's granddaughter. With five weeks until Craig's execution and no prior interviews granted, Jones has compiled extensive research including court transcripts and newspaper clippings to understand what motivated Craig's act of revenge. She has personal reasons for wanting to uncover the truth. Managing editor Sam Goldberg knows Senator O'Neill is a vengeful man with powerful connections, including ties to organized crime, and has clashed with him before. Despite reservations, Goldberg allows Jones to pursue the story but warns her that Florida's surface appearance masks darker realities. As Jones investigates, she faces danger from those who want her silenced.
