About this book

The second book in Joy Castro's post-Katrina New Orleans crime series features Times-Picayune crime reporter Nola Céspedes. While running in Audubon Park one morning, Nola discovers a dead body at a crime scene. She recognizes the victim as Judith Taffner, her former journalism professor at Tulane. Suspecting the murder was not random and distrustful of the NOPD, Nola investigates on her own. She learns that Dr. Taffner was working on two explosive stories that would shock the city. When a second murder occurs during Jazz Fest, Nola understands she may be in danger from a killer who is eliminating those connected to these stories. The novel is set in New Orleans and follows Nola as she navigates personal complications—including pressure from the man she is seeing to become more serious—while pursuing a dangerous investigation.
