New York City in 2140 has been transformed by rising sea levels: streets have become canals and skyscrapers stand as islands. This novel follows the residents of an apartment building in Madison Square as they navigate life in the flooded metropolis. The building's inhabitants include a market trader who capitalizes on opportunity, a detective whose profession remains essential, an internet personality famous for airship adventures, and a building manager known for his meticulous work. Two homeless boys without permanent residence live nearby, and their connection to the building proves significant to its future.
