Beneath the surface of this seemingly perfect neighborhood lie numerous secrets, some of which are deadly. Cora suspects her husband Finn of infidelity and recruits Paige to help expose him. Paige, who lost her son to a hit-and-run accident the previous year, is grieving deeply and has been investigating whether her son's death was truly accidental. She agrees to Cora's plan while pursuing her own investigation into the neighborhood's residents. Meanwhile, their new neighbor Georgia begins acting increasingly strange, raising questions about what she might be concealing. The novel was nominated for an Edgar Award and selected as a New York Times Book Review Summer Read.
