One by One

Ruth Ware's One by One follows eight coworkers from Snoop, a London-based tech start-up, who become trapped at a luxury ski chalet in the French Alps. What begins as a corporate retreat takes a darker turn when a shareholder introduces a contentious buyout offer, creating tension among the group. Each person has something to gain, lose, and hide. When a devastating avalanche cuts off all access to the outside world, the situation becomes critical. One team member is missing after being caught on the slopes. As hours pass without rescue, panic grows, conditions worsen, and the group dwindles one by one. The group must contend with both the external threat of the storm and the internal dynamics of their trapped situation.
