Perfect Sins: A Mystery (Gabriel Ash & Hazel Best)

Gabriel Ash was investigating hijackings in Somalia for the British government when his wife and sons disappeared, presumably taken and killed by pirates. Four years later, a senior policeman suggests his sons might still be alive—but that policeman is then murdered. Ash discovers a possible link to a local operation and, no longer a government agent, becomes determined to investigate. Hazel Best, a police constable, is recovering from a difficult case in which she shot someone dead. As both Ash and Hazel begin to re-engage with the world around them, an archaeologist unearths a curious mound on his land. Expecting an ancient burial site, he instead finds the bones of a young boy from approximately thirty years ago. As Hazel is drawn back into police work, Ash faces threats from someone who believes his investigation into his family's disappearance is finally making progress.
