Camden Fields is the star quarterback of a college football team. He is quiet, smart, and attractive, and is known on campus as a desirable romantic prospect. However, he keeps his relationships casual and avoids serious commitments. The narrator is the younger sister of Camden's best friend. Camden has consistently told her that she is off limits and that nothing can happen between them. Despite his words, the narrator notices signs of attraction in how he looks at her when he thinks she is not paying attention. Tired of conforming to others' expectations and playing by the rules that have governed her life, the narrator decides to pursue Camden. She is determined to break through his resistance and go after what she wants.
