About this book

In the conclusion to the Rama series, a human colony aboard the massive spaceship Rama III faces a critical turning point. Two thousand humans have been stranded on the vessel, which is traveling toward the Raman Node orbiting Sirius. During their journey through space, the human population has developed into a violent authoritarian society that has imprisoned astronaut Nicole Wakefield. After escaping with her husband Richard's help, the Wakefields venture deep into the ship's interior passages and encounter the octospiders—technologically sophisticated beings whose intentions remain unclear. As the human colony pursues the Wakefields, tensions escalate toward open conflict. Meanwhile, Rama's Nodal intelligence continues to observe all events aboard the ship. Written by Arthur C. Clarke's longtime collaborator Gentry Lee, this novel brings the Rama series to its climax, culminating in humanity's encounter with the advanced alien intelligences that created the mysterious spaceships.
