About this book

Ruddy Gore is the seventh historical mystery in Kerry Greenwood's Phryne Fisher series, set in 1920s Melbourne. The novel follows amateur sleuth Phryne Fisher as she attends a performance of Gilbert and Sullivan's Ruddigore at His Majesty's Theatre. After rescuing a man and his grandmother from thugs in an alley, Phryne arrives at the theater to find the lead actor dead onstage during the performance. She must investigate the connections between the opera's plot, the Chinese community of Little Bourke Street, and the theater's cast and staff. Her investigation requires her to solve an old murder, identify a new murderer, and address a theater ghost that poses an ongoing threat. The novel explores Phryne's developing romance with Lin Chung and provides insight into the 1920s theater world.
