The Shadow of the Torturer follows Severian, a young apprentice in the Guild of Torturers on the world called Urth. The Claw of the Conciliator continues Severian's story as he is banished from his home and embarks on a quest to uncover the power of an ancient relic and learn the truth about his hidden destiny.
