About this book

Catfish Charlie Tuttle, the former Texas Ranger from the first book in the series, comes out of retirement when his friend Julia Claire disappears. Julia was traveling by stagecoach to Tombstone, Arizona, through territory known for outlaw activity, and the stage never arrives at its destination. Concerned for Julia's safety, Catfish and Deputy Brazos ride into outlaw country to search for her. They discover that a gang of renegade soldiers led by Major Boneyard has taken the stagecoach. Boneyard has hidden an arsenal of weapons on the stage, which he intends to sell to the Apache in exchange for gold. When the soldiers' plan is exposed, they take Brazos hostage, leaving Catfish alone and vastly outnumbered. Determined to rescue his friends, Catfish pursues the soldiers across the Mexican border, where he becomes entangled in a conflict with El Serpiente, a revolutionary leader marked by a coiled serpent tattoo beneath his left eye.
