Signal Moon: A Short Story

Yorkshire, 1943. Lily Baines, a young debutante, has taken work intercepting enemy naval communications for Bletchley Park. One night, she receives a transmission that is not coded—it is a distress call from an American ship under attack in the North Atlantic. The US officer on the other end, Matt Jackson, claims to be transmitting from 2023. No attack has been reported by anyone else, and the information he provides seems inconsistent with what Lily knows. Despite the eighty-year gap between them, Lily and Matt must find ways to assist each other: Matt seeks to convince Lily that her war can still be won, while Lily works to help prevent a future conflict. As their connection strengthens, both recognize that their inexplicable link may end at any moment.
