Sing Me Home to Carolina: A Novel

Event planner Hattie Norwood returns to her hometown of Mountain View, South Carolina to support her parents after learning their family peanut farm has become infertile. She intends to stay only through the weekend, but the town councilwoman persuades her to use her event-planning skills to organize a musical benefit aimed at stopping construction of a new Carolina Panthers stadium—a project Hattie actually supports, contrary to local opinion. She agrees to remain through the town's Founder's Day celebration. Hattie's plans shift when her former flame, Lee Lockhardt, a former MLB player sidelined by injury, returns to town. Simultaneously, Fox Ryan, the mysterious new owner of Fox's Hardware, proposes relocating the Founder's Day celebration to the Norwoods' barn as part of a plan to reinvent the struggling farm as a music and event venue. Hattie accepts, setting in motion events that draw public attention to the town, her personal life, and the stadium controversy. As Hattie navigates her feelings between Lee and Fox, she must decide whether love, like music, is meant to fade or endure.
