Perfect for you if...

  • You love slow-burn Regency romance where the hero's past is genuinely complicated and the heroine isn't naive.

  • You appreciate character-driven stories where forced proximity peels back carefully constructed facades.

Maybe not for you if...

About this book

During the height of the Napoleonic wars, Miss Euphemia Buchanan travels from London to Bath with her brother Simon and young page Kent to spend Christmas with their Great Aunt Lucasta. Euphemia persuades Simon to pass by Dominer, the grand country estate of Garret Hawkhurst, a man rumored to be responsible for the deaths of his own wife and child. A landslide overturns their coach, nearly destroying it completely. A passing gentleman rescues Euphemia, Simon, and Kent from the wreckage. Euphemia's gratitude turns to horror when she recognizes her rescuer as the infamous Garret Hawkhurst. With Simon and Kent injured, she finds herself with no choice but to allow them to recover within the walls of Dominer.
