About this book

In this second Hollywood mystery, film costumer Joey Jessop is working on a 1930s Hollywood movie set starring two major actors: a male lead known for social activism and Gillian Best, who runs a lifestyle brand. After a hit-and-run accident near the set, Joey discovers the car involved belongs to Gillian, raising questions about what the actress might be concealing. Joey's suspicions grow when Gillian's personal assistant, Rita, threatens revenge after being replaced by Gillian, then is found dead. Gillian claims Rita's death was suicide, and police accept this conclusion—but Joey doubts it. With law enforcement unwilling to investigate further, Joey takes it upon herself to uncover the truth. However, Hollywood figures are skilled at protecting their secrets, and Gillian Best is unlikely to welcome scrutiny into her affairs. Joey remains convinced that Gillian is hiding something significant and is resolved to discover what it is.
