About this book

The Lamprey family, an aristocratic household known for charm and wit but perpetually short of money, sees their financial troubles potentially resolved when the wealthy but disagreeable Lord Wutherwood is killed. His death results in an inheritance that rescues the family from their dire circumstances. Inspector Roderick Alleyn arrives to investigate, sympathetic to the family's relief but determined to establish whether they were responsible for their benefactor's death. The novel is also published under the title Death of a Peer.
