The Adventures of Ulysses

Bernard Evslin's modern retelling of The Odyssey follows the legendary Greek king Ulysses on his epic journey home. After the Greeks win the ten-year siege of Troy through Ulysses's strategy of the Trojan Horse, he sets sail for Ithaca. However, having angered Poseidon, god of the sea, Ulysses and his men are caught in a storm and forced to wander for another ten years. During his travels, Ulysses faces numerous dangerous encounters, including man-eating Sirens, a towering Cyclops, the witch-goddess Circe, and other deadly adversaries. He must rely on both wit and strength to survive these trials. Back in Ithaca, Ulysses's wife Penelope and son Telemachus face their own challenges. A mob of suitors has taken over their home, attempting to seize power in the absence of their ruler.
