Though a handsome war hero, Dutton's death reveals layers of deception and vile secrets. As the investigators work through Belvedere House's high society circles, another murder follows. Major Heathcliff Lennox is a former World War I pilot, approximately 30 years old, 6 feet 3 inches tall with tousled dark blond hair. His mother named him after the hero of Wuthering Heights, much to his annoyance. The investigation includes a dog and cat of distinction.
