The Big Hit

In his first new thriller in more than fifteen years, James Neal Harvey presents a story centered on a starlet's murder that pulls an NYPD detective into a cross-country pursuit. Mongo prepares to assassinate a movie star, acquiring a wig, fake press pass, and a specialized tape recorder fitted with fléchettes. Using persuasion, he gains access to Catherine Delure's hotel room and carries out the killing. What seemed like a straightforward assignment, however, begins to unravel. Delure's death initially appears to be a shooting during a robbery, but homicide detective Jeb Barker recognizes otherwise. His investigation of the confident assassin takes him from Las Vegas to California, where he pursues the hit man across the country.
