About this book

DC Smith is approached by Amanda Fitch, who wants her missing husband declared dead so she can claim a substantial insurance payout for her second husband. Smith is reluctant to take the case, as there is no body or proof of death. However, the insurance company—facing a significant financial loss if Amanda obtains a certificate of presumed death—hires the firm Diver and Diver Associates to investigate Gerald Fitch's disappearance, which occurred more than five years ago.
