Mirren's great-aunt Violet is seriously ill and wishes to be reunited with a hand-illustrated book from her childhood. Mirren accepts the challenge to find it and bring Violet festive cheer. Unable to locate the book online, Mirren enters the world of rare books, traveling from London to Hay-on-Wye and Edinburgh as she searches bookshop to bookshop. During her search, she meets Theo, a charming and mysterious man who is also looking for the same book for his own reasons. As they work together to find it before time runs out for Violet, Mirren pursues both her Christmas wish and a possible romance.
