The Kings of Kearny

Jakob Larson, known as The Viking, is the chief enforcer of a motorcycle club that controls a small Texas town. He is a criminal and dangerous man who frequents the bar where the narrator works. When someone breaks one of the cardinal rules set by the club's leader, Jakob begins investigating, and his attention turns toward the narrator. As the narrator becomes entangled with Jakob, they find themselves caught in trouble larger than the motorcycle club itself. Jakob repeatedly reveals new information that complicates the narrator's understanding of the situation. The narrator must decide how far they are willing to go to protect the town, knowing that a relationship with Jakob would eliminate any possibility of a peaceful resolution. However, the narrator considers that descending into darkness alongside him might offer something beyond a conventional happy ending.
