About this book

Detective Matthew Venn stands outside a church in North Devon during his estranged father's funeral. Years earlier, when Matthew left the strict evangelical community of his childhood, he lost his family as well. As he walks away from the service, he receives a call from his team: a man with an albatross tattoo on his neck has been found stabbed to death on a nearby beach. The investigation draws Matthew back into the people and places of his past, where hidden secrets emerge and force his present life into collision with the world he believed he had left behind. This is the first novel in the Matthew Venn series.
