Perfect for you if...

  • You love WWII fiction that weaves between timelines, revealing how one act of courage echoes across generations.
  • You're drawn to stories about women in occupied Paris and the dangerous work of resistance agents during the war.
  • You want emotional, character-driven historical fiction that explores love and loss as much as wartime bravery.

Maybe not for you if...

  • You prefer fast-paced thrillers over introspective, emotionally layered narratives.
  • You're looking for action-heavy military fiction rather than intimate stories centred on personal sacrifice.
  • You find dual-timeline structures confusing or prefer stories that stick to a single era.

About this book

Inspired by true events, The Lost Song of Paris follows two timelines. In 1941, a woman escapes a burning Baker Street hotel in London during an air raid. In 1997, archivist Amy Novak, grieving the death of her husband Michael and estranged from music, discovers a declassified file that proves the existence of 'Agent Colette'—a secret identity long whispered about but never verified. Her discovery leads her to MI6 operative Verity Cooper and into the streets of occupied Paris, where she uncovers a story of extraordinary choices, courage, and a love that endured through World War Two. The novel explores themes of lost love, danger, and bravery during wartime, told across past and present. It is set in occupied Paris and London during WWII, with a contemporary narrative strand in 1997.
