About this book

The Lost Summers of Newport follows three interconnected stories set at Sprague Hall, a historic mansion in Newport, Rhode Island, spanning from the Gilded Age to the present day. In 2019, Andie Figuero, a producer for the reality show Mansion Makeover, plans to restore the deteriorating Sprague Hall. The reclusive heiress Lucia "Lucky" Sprague agrees to participate only if nobody speaks to her and nobody touches the mansion's ruined boathouse. In 1899, Ellen Daniels arrives at Sprague Hall as a singing teacher for Maybelle Sprague, a Colorado mining heiress whose stepbrother John seeks to marry her off to an Italian prince. Ellen harbors her own hidden past. In 1958, Lucky Sprague returns to Sprague Hall with her grandmother, the American-born Princess di Conti, after fleeing Mussolini's Italy. Lucky has built a life among Newport's yachting society through marriage to Stuyvesant Sprague, but a fateful night reveals a devastating truth about her past. As the cameras roll on Mansion Makeover, the house's long-buried secrets begin to surface.
