The Savage Girl

After her sister Ivy's widely publicized suicide attempt, Ursula Van Urden moves to Middle City hoping to begin again. Seeking to understand what led to Ivy's breakdown, Ursula meets Ivy's mysterious boyfriend, Chas Lacouture, and joins his trendspotting firm, Tomorrow, Ltd. With only a sketch pad and instructions to "find the future," she enters the world of trendspotting, where she learns that every product contains a paradox that, when properly exploited, can generate significant profit. As Ivy's delusions become increasingly apocalyptic, Ursula observes a homeless girl living on the city streets—an urban savage who eats rodents. This observation becomes the basis for an elaborate advertising scheme that ultimately goes wrong, producing unexpected consequences.
