The second book in the Hierarchy quartet, this sequel to The Will of the Many follows Vis as he confronts a dangerous secret with implications across alternate dimensions. Vis is known to the Hierarchy as Catenicus, but his identity has become uncertain after winning the Iudicium. An ancient device beyond the Labyrinth has replicated him across three separate worlds—Obiteum, Luceum, and Res—creating three different versions of himself with different lives and bodies. He must hide, fight, navigate politics, train, trust, lie, kill, and heal while proving himself repeatedly.
