The Trouble with Heroes

Finn Connelly is nothing like his father, a star athlete and firefighter hero who died two years ago. Finn is struggling in seventh grade until he's caught on camera vandalizing a cemetery and knocking down a headstone. The grave belongs to a legendary local mountain climber, and her daughter offers Finn a deal: she'll drop the charges if he climbs all forty-six Adirondack High Peaks in a single summer. There's one condition—he must bring along the dead woman's dog. Over three months of misadventures and mountain challenges, Finn begins to find his way on the trails. At the top of each peak, he can see for miles and slowly starts to understand more about himself and his father. As the summer progresses and September approaches, the mountains present unexpected obstacles. Finn's final summit challenge may test him in ways he doesn't anticipate.
