About this book

Raymond Ibrahim presents a history of the warrior-monks who defended Christendom against Islamic forces over five centuries. He chronicles the conflict between Islam and the West through the lives of the Knights Templar and the Knights Hospitaller, military orders that combined religious devotion with martial prowess. Drawing on primary sources, Ibrahim examines the theological foundations that justified these military orders and their role during the Crusades and beyond. He addresses widely held myths, including claims about Templar connections to Freemasonry. The book references Christ's directive in Luke 22:38 regarding "two swords," interpreting the two orders as wielding both spiritual and martial authority. This work is the third installment in Ibrahim's trilogy, following Sword and Scimitar and Defenders of the West. The narrative contains accounts of battles, heroism, and martyrdom.
