Seventeen-year-old Savannah Devenish vanishes from her family's remote vacation cabin in Minnesota during a blizzard. FBI Agent Tori Hunter arrives at the scene and becomes determined to find her, driven partly by memories of her own missing sister from twenty years earlier. When police discover that Savannah's father Jacob was having an affair, they suspect his involvement. However, Tori believes his distress is genuine. Working independently, she persuades Savannah's best friends to reveal that the "good girl" had been sneaking out to meet a mysterious man at parties. A second teenager is then abducted from the street, leaving only snowy footprints and a discarded hot chocolate cup behind.
