The Wizard of Washington Square

David has recently moved to New York City from Connecticut and feels lonely in the large city without friends. One Saturday afternoon in Washington Square Park, he and his dog, D. Dog, meet a girl named Leilah, who tells him about a wizard living under the Washington Square fountain. David initially doubts Leilah's story until he encounters the wizard himself. The wizard's spells are unreliable and trigger at inconvenient moments. During one such incident, the wizard accidentally transforms D. Dog into a marble statue. Before the wizard can reverse the spell, an antiques dealer steals the statue and takes it uptown to sell it. David must work with his new friends to recover D. Dog.
