Twenty years ago, four individuals committed a heist for half a million dollars, but the plan fell apart by morning. One ended up hospitalized, one in jail, one dead, and one disappeared—presumably with the money after killing an accomplice. Arden Maxwell is the daughter of the man who vanished that night. Estranged from her father and plagued by unanswered questions, she returns to her family home near Caddo Lake seeking the truth about his involvement and disappearance. Unknown to Arden, two of her father's co-conspirators are monitoring her closely. Ledge Burnet, a former rebellious teen who avoided jail by enlisting in the military, has returned to care for his ailing father and to watch the county's corrupt district attorney, whom he suspects of being the real murderer. Though bound by silence about their shared crime, Ledge and the D.A. have spent years waiting for the other to slip up. When Arden arrives, potentially knowing more about the missing money than she reveals, both men become alert. Her presence strengthens Ledge's resolve to expose the D.A.'s crimes and awakens a desire he struggles to resist.
