Thinner Than Water

Virginia Freer agrees to witness an old friend's second wedding, despite her reservations about serving alongside Felix, her sort-of-ex-husband. While she tolerates Felix in limited amounts, little else about the event proves enjoyable—the hostess is unwelcoming, and the groom's father is murdered shortly after the reception. The police dismiss the death as a robbery gone wrong, noting that some silver is missing. However, Virginia and Felix, having encountered murders before, recognize the killing as deliberate. As they work to uncover details and convince the police of what actually happened, Virginia finds herself spending far more time with Felix than she anticipated.
