Ventus

Ventus is a large-scale hard science fiction adventure novel. Karl Schroeder, a physicist and writer, won Canada's Aurora Award. His first novel was named the best first fantasy of the year by Science Fiction Chronicle. On the terraformed planet Ventus, young Jordan Mason experiences visions. He is kidnapped by Calandria May, a human sent from offworld to investigate the AIs known as the Winds. Desperate to understand his visions, Jordan calls down the Winds—entities that destroy technology to protect the environment—causing widespread destruction. He then escapes Calandria and sets out alone to discover his destiny. Calandria and others, both human and AI, search for Jordan, who holds the key to either catastrophe or salvation. The novel follows an epic journey across Ventus and explores a central mystery: why have the Winds fallen silent? This title is sold without Digital Rights Management Software (DRM) applied.
