Versions of Her

Melanie Kingstad-Keyes is a tenure-track professor at a prestigious university with a seemingly successful life, but a recent miscarriage has destabilized her marriage. She decides to sell her family's Lake Indigo summer home, which she hasn't visited in fifteen years, as a distraction from her troubles. She needs her younger sister Kelsey to agree to the plan. Kelsey, working a dead-end job and moving between failed relationships, struggles to move forward in her adult life. Burdened by guilt over their mother's untimely death, she is reluctant to part with the Victorian house that holds memories of their mother and childhood. When the sisters discover a mysterious hidden door in the house, they find they can view their mother's younger years and access secrets she never revealed to them. Initially enjoyable, this exploration of their mother's past uncovers difficult truths that challenge the sisters' own life choices and force them to question how well they actually knew their mother. Accessing these memories may offer closure, but carries unexpected consequences.
