About this book

Ulrich von Bek, a facet of The Eternal Champion, is a cynical mercenary fighting in wars across Europe. After deserting his military company following the destruction of a city in which he participated, von Bek travels alone and seeks refuge in a castle, where he falls in love with Sabrina, the castle's keeper. At the castle, von Bek encounters Lucifer and learns his soul is destined for Hell. In exchange for his soul, he agrees to undertake a quest for Lucifer: to find the Cure for the World's Pain, also known as the Search for the Holy Grail. As von Bek travels across Europe pursuing this impossible quest, he becomes entangled in wars, politics, intrigue, and romance, all while bound by the bargain he has made with the devil.
