Wanderers: A Novel

Shana discovers her younger sister in an inexplicable state: sleepwalking, unable to speak or wake, and moving with determined purpose toward an unknown destination. She and her sister are soon joined by others experiencing the same condition, traveling across America in a mysterious procession. Like Shana, other "shepherds" emerge to protect their loved ones among the sleepwalkers. As the sleepwalking phenomenon spreads, it triggers fear and violence throughout America. Society begins to collapse, and an ultraviolent militia emerges as a direct threat. The real danger may stem not from the epidemic itself but from the panic it generates. The survival of the sleepwalkers—and potentially the nation—hinges on discovering the truth behind the phenomenon. This revelation could either fracture the country or unite survivors to rebuild from the ruins. The novel features a rock star, a deeply religious radio host, and a disgraced scientist among its cast. Nominated for the Bram Stoker Award, it was selected as one of the best books of the year by The Washington Post, NPR, The Guardian, Kirkus Reviews, Publishers Weekly, Library Journal, and Polygon.
