Womentality: Thirteen Empowering Stories by Everyday Women Who Said Goodbye to the Workplace and Hello to Their Lives

Womentality is a collection of thirteen personal essays from women around the world who left traditional employment to create independent work lives. The contributors come from diverse countries including Uganda, Venezuela, Poland, Palestine, and the Philippines. Each woman shares how she redesigned her work to meet both personal and professional needs, using internet connectivity and creativity to build flexible, fulfilling careers outside corporate structures. While their approaches differ, they share common motivations: escaping office drudgery, controlling their own time, and working for themselves. Many discovered that independent work allowed them to overcome global pay disparities favoring men.
