All Too Well (Ember Falls Book 1)

The narrator has long harbored feelings for Lachlan West, her brother's best friend. Four years after he kissed her and then cut off contact, she is assigned to write an article about former college athletes. She discovers that Lachlan, now a single father and former quarterback turned fireman, is her first interview subject. Knowing little about sports, the narrator travels to Ember Falls determined to impress her editor with the piece. Though Lachlan initially resists participating, she manages to convince him to let her follow him for a few weeks. As she spends time in his small town, their relationship becomes increasingly complicated. Physical and emotional boundaries blur between them. Lachlan shows her affection and care, but both understand that her assignment is temporary. She will eventually leave Ember Falls, and he will not follow, leaving their story without the ending she wishes for.
