Mateo Borrero has significant problems, all connected to his missing bruja mother and the demon she trapped inside his body. His mother forbade him from using magic, but now that she's gone, it's his only marketable skill. He needs money for an exorcism he can't afford, so he decides to pose as an Occult Specialist and perform spells to earn quick cash. Mateo takes on a client named Topher, a wealthy but naive man cursed with bad luck that kills people around him. Topher doesn't realize that Mateo and his best friend Ophelia, who can astral project, have never actually worked with a client before. What should be a straightforward curse-lifting becomes complicated when Mateo develops feelings for Topher and discovers he may be connected to a deadly magical conspiracy. Meanwhile, each spell Mateo casts strengthens the demon inside him, increasing its desire to consume people. Mateo must navigate these mounting dangers while trying to complete his first job and earn the payment he desperately needs.
