Any Trope but You: A Novel

Margot Bradley is a bestselling romance author with a secret: she doesn't believe in happy endings. She writes alternate endings for her characters that replace weddings and babies with divorce papers and other dark outcomes. When her hidden document of these "Happily Never After" endings is hacked and made public, she loses her readers and publisher. Desperate to support her chronically ill sister Savannah, Margot decides to write a murder mystery instead. Savannah arranges a six-week stay at a remote Alaskan resort for Margot to work on the novel. There, Margot encounters the resort's proprietor, Dr. Forrest Wakefield, a former cancer researcher who now manages his family's resort while caring for his ailing father. As Margot and Forrest spend time together during long snowy nights, they grow closer despite their mutual fears. Margot worries she's living in a romance plot rather than writing one, while Forrest struggles with the possibility of losing someone else. Both must confront their assumptions and fears before Margot's departure, or risk becoming a Happily Never After story themselves.
